Welcome to Nadiyah's Flash Blog

Occasionally, I'll sit down and write little short snippets of what could someday turn into a longer story...or not. Either way, I thought, "Hey, why don't I post them so people can read them?" So, here they are. Uncut. Enjoy.

PS. The book I'm using is called, "500 Five-Minute Writing Exercises." I wrote it because I needed one like it. If you would like a copy, you can go HERE. You can also Follow nadiyahak on Twitter.

There there

Ex 278: Write an opening using a quote from your favorite song or movie.

“In pitch dark/ I go walking through your landscape…”

Ember looked at the radio as Thom Yorke crooned his way through the first lines of “There There.”

“Huh. Interesting,” she said to herself.

“What’s interesting,” Asher said as he kept his eyes on the road.

“Oh, nothing. It’s just this song.”

“What about it?”

It was the song she was listening to when she broke up with her last boyfriend. That’s all. You know. No big deal. “Oh nothing. It’s a good song.”

“Oh, yeah?” He looked at the radio, shrugged, then returned his attention to the road. “I never understood it.”

“Well, that’s because you don’t listen,” Ember muttered to herself.

“What as that?” he asked. “You said I don’t listen?”

She rolled the window down to the let the cool night air in
