Welcome to Nadiyah's Flash Blog
Occasionally, I'll sit down and write little short snippets of what could someday turn into a longer story...or not. Either way, I thought, "Hey, why don't I post them so people can read them?" So, here they are. Uncut. Enjoy.
PS. The book I'm using is called, "500 Five-Minute Writing Exercises." I wrote it because I needed one like it. If you would like a copy, you can go HERE. You can also

Use an article of clothing in the first sentence
Oh, my pants are wet. Damn it! I already don't want to be here. Now this happens. God, why did that lady have to be sick? And why did I have to be dumb enough to help her. No good deed, right? Now I've got water, pieces of wet napkin, and the scent of unfiltered bile all over my pants so it looks like I just couldn't hold it any longer. Or have a bladder infection, or something. God! What am I going to do? Wait, I have an idea. I'll just hide out in here for 30-45 minutes while I wait for my clothes to dry. I bet that'll go over real well with the promoters of this event.

Splat
Splat. One word. One syllable. Five letters. And they change everything. It means so many things. It's what you hear when pasta hits the wall. Or when a raw slice of potato falls to the floor. It's the word that shows on-screen in cartoons, like when Road Runner has bested Wiley for the umpteenth time and he falls to the bottom of the canyon in a puff of smoke.
It's also what it sounds like when a person lands on the concrete after a 54-story drop to the sidewalk. Splat. It's how we all feel when we get the news. And at the funeral. No dancing. No singing. Or crying. Just splat.

What if there is no heaven
"What if there is no heaven?" Micah said.
I looked up at him from my Life magazine and bowl of cereal to stare at him. I told Mom that boy needed treatment. Hell, for $50, I coulda solved all his problems.
"I mean, did you ever think about that, Mary" he asked.
I knew where he was going with this, of course. He always became introspective when shit had gone down hard and he was about to be in more trouble than a pirate before a magistrate.
"Listen, Micah," I said to him. "The best thing you can do is call a life insurance agent. 'Cause there's no amount of heaven or hell questioning that's gonna save you when Mom sees her car parked in her living room.

Ooh, yeah, that's gonna...
Ooh, yeah, that's gonna be a source of irritation for Jaime. Ruby and Sarah looked at the bloodstain on Jaime's brand new cream carpet. He had made it very clear that the last time they did this was gonna be the last time or he was throwing them both to the wolves. The only reason he hadn't yet was because the girls were his best guards and assassins. Too bad they were both in love with him. Well, bad for them. Good for him. It made them great at what they do.
Ruby looked at Sarah who was staring at the bloodstains like her whole life was flashing before her eyes. She really didn't want to do what she did to Ruby. But sometimes that hoe just needed to be popped in the nose.

Happy Memorial Day
Yeah, I know this is being typed on a Wednesday. However, I did write this short on Monday...miles and miles from my computer.
Prompt: It just adds a little sparkle
"It's not gonna make the whole thing go up in flames. It just adds a little sparkle."
He's insane, Mikki thought. He knew he shouldn't have agreed to work with a man who insisted on calling himself "Jesus Christ: The Savior" the whole thing...everytime...or he wouldn't answer As Mikki watched him douse the wood and sand in gunpowder he knew he made a big mistake.
"Listen," Mikki said. "All I want to do is make the whole castle glass. Do we really need gunpowder, the contents of TNT for this?"
JCTS took out a cigarette, placed it in his mouth like he'd been coached by the best in Hollywood, then flicked open his lighter. After he lit it he said, "Listen here, son. This is not my first time at a bbq."
