Welcome to Nadiyah's Flash Blog

Occasionally, I'll sit down and write little short snippets of what could someday turn into a longer story...or not. Either way, I thought, "Hey, why don't I post them so people can read them?" So, here they are. Uncut. Enjoy.

PS. The book I'm using is called, "500 Five-Minute Writing Exercises." I wrote it because I needed one like it. If you would like a copy, you can go HERE. You can also Follow nadiyahak on Twitter.

Two for the price of One

Comic con is over. Time to get back to my real life and make plans for next year's comic con. In the mean time, in lieu of a flash fic last Monday, I have done two for today. Here they are.

"We don't take things like this kindly..."

"We don't take things like this kindly," Michelle said. Her attitude half-badass half-joker. She had a look that made you wanna sit down and shoot the breeze with her, but you damn sure didn't wanna be on her bad side. No question why she was Clovis' right-hand.

Philip was screwed in the worst possible way. He'd gotten caught snooping through his employer's files.

"Which makes us wonder," Clovis said, stepping forward. "Actually, it makes us wonder many things. First, if you're so good, how could we catch you. Second, how many of our enemies has your carelessness led to us?"

"Nothing like civil unrest to get the blood flowing."

Garvin stood next to Pietro, watching him. Pietro looked very pleased as he stared down at the city from his palace window. Smoke and flames spewed up in pockets around the city.

Pietro had his arms crossed over his chest as he smiled. "Nothing like civil unrest to get the blood flowing, eh Garvin?"

Garvin wasn't as thrilled. In fact, he was nervous. Terrified even. So far, Pietro's plan to take complete control of Artemis was working. Separate the people into two group, get those groups to fight each other, then bring them together. Pietro always was the brilliant one. But two things occurred to Garvin. One, the civilians would have their heads when they realized Garvin and Pietro were brothers. Two, Pietro would kill Garvin to keep control of Artemis for himself.

comic con comic con

So, I missed this weeks edition of 5-Minutes. I kinda have a good reason. I was busy packing Monday for my flight on Tuesday. And in the midst of hanging out with one of my sisters whom I don't get to see very often...I completely forgot. Well, I'll have to wait to til next Monday to make it up. All week this week, I will be running my self through the ground at comic con. It'll be a great week, but I'll be sure to do 5-Minute next week...if my head hasn't exploded.

She could see the door in the distance closing slowly

Amen fell out of the night sky in front of Chara like a dark cloud falling to eat her alive. His sword perched on his shoulder, she didn't have to ask what his intent was. But she didn't want to fight him. She didn't have time to fight him. There was a whole world at stake.
Holding her unarmed hands out in front of her she spoke to Amen. "Amen, listen, I know you hate me. And given what you've been through, I understand. I really do." she looked at the door and could see it slowly closing. She was running out of time. Her heart pounding in a rhythm she didn't even know was possible, she tried to speak again, while remaining calm so as not to wound-up Amen. "We cannot do this now. I have to get through that door and go back to the other side or there will be no one to stop it. You can't do it. No one can but me. I'm the only one who has only this to live for and only this to lose."

Belated Monday

Let's just pretend today is Monday. It's like stretching the day out into extra innings!!! Yippeee!!! Yip...oh wait.

“Please tell me you know where we are.”

“Oh, God, please tell me you know where we are,” I said.
“Of course, I do,” Anderson said. “As you said, I am God.
“Oh Lord,” I prayed silently. “One day, I beg you to make murder legal. ‘Cause right now, my friend needs it.”
“Well, look, stupid,” I said to Anderson. “Why don’t you use your God-like powers and get us the hell out here.”
When he didn’t’ answer I looked up at him. The horror that was on his face was tangible even in the moonlight. I looked in the direction he was staring that drained all color and humor from his face. Approaching us was a polar bear.
“We need to go,” he said in a whisper.
“You think?” I said aggravated. “We’re only in the arctic, at night, with nothing on.”
